AN EARTHENWARE VASE
meiji period, 19th century
Of ovoid form rising to a short waisted neck, painted on either side with square panels depicting a temple landscape and women in a garden by a blossoming prunus tree, the surrounding area with gilt repeating fan and diaper pattern on a blue ground, the panels signed Eizan, the base with a gilt signature of Tokozan below a Shimazu mon on a red panel hanging from the beak of a white crane
