Of rectangular form with separate slightly cantilevered cover and slightly spreading base, the surface covered with a very finely carved cusped ogival lattice of quatrefoils containing rosettes around larger cartouches containing rosettes issuing serrated leaves and irises, within a rosette and leafy meander border, a band of trefoil leaf motifs around the base, the interior fitted with a tray divided into three longitudinal panels with cusped arched ends, three small rectangular openings at one end for inkwells, negligible damages
