SAFAVID PERSIA, 17TH CENTURY, AND LATER
Comprising three bazubands, each formed of three cornelian or agate oval stones of alternating colours very finely carved with nasta'liq inscriptions containing religious invocations, two of the stones bearing the date AH 1025/1616-17 AD, each mounted separately in silver and attached together on a cord; together with a finely carved pale ochre agate with central large religious invocation on a cross-hatched ground within a very fine calligraphic border, mounted as a brooch with a band of turquoises surmounted by five baroque pearls; a large oval cornelian intaglio; two rock crystal fob seals, one with three faces and silver mount; and three small cornelian oval seals with owners' inscriptions, one of these in kufic, some with slight damages, one of the bazubands with one stone cracked through
