The waisted cylindrical candlestick standing on integrally cast shallow drip tray with small feet, the body of the piece with four inscription cartouches with flowerhead terminals engraved with bold nasta'liq on a hatched ground filled with red composition, separated by ogival cartouches with engraved arabesque decoration on a hatched ground filled with black composition, the overhanging shoulder engraved with an owner's name, narrow cylindrical neck with engraved bands and shallow knops, waisted cylindrical mouth with similar decoration

The inscription on the shoulder is in the name of Aliya Begum bint Mullah Hayder, It is most unusual to have a lady's ownership inscription on an object. The gender of the patron here probably however explains the particularly delicate form and size of the candlestick.
