A Canton sandalwood brise fan carved with the name Marian,and with monogram J.J.H., carved recto only with a border of grasshopers and other insects, the reserves with figures including one holding a large handscreen - 7in.(17cm.), circa 1815 - in original silk covered box with paper label on lid inscribed Marian, stamped Tyshing in red inside lid and inscribed Sandalwood and Miss Shaw; a Canton fan embroidered with a dragon - in fitted box; and two European fans, one with a hand-coloured stipple engraving of a fortune teller, the verso with lovers by the statue of Cupid, with mother of pearl sticks and ormolu guardsticks - circa 1830; the other a pierced horn brise fan - circa 1820 (4)
