A PAIR OF REGENCY BRASS-INLAID AND MOUNTED MAHOGANY CARD-TABLES
Each with a cut-cornered rectangular hinged top crossbanded in rosewood, enclosing a green baize-lined playing-surface, above a well, on lyre supports and hipped reeded legs joined by a spirally-reeded stretcher, brass paw caps and castors, one with boxwood stringing to the edge of the top (possibly a replacement)

Lot Essay

The paired trestles with Grecian lyre and scrolled claw was a popular feature of American (Boston) card-tables in the early 19th Century (see R. H. Randall, American Furniture, Boston, 1965, nos. 104 and 105).
