Lot Essay

Gillows of Lancaster supplied four related chamber writing-tables to Richard Gascoigne in 1810, for the bedrooms at Parlington Hall, Aberford. Three of these tables are now at Lotherton Hall, Leeds each with a lidded well on the top, enclosing a pen-tray (C. Gilbert, Furniture at Temple Newsam and Lotherton Hall, London, 1978, p. 382, cat. no. 504).
