Of square form, the padded back, seat and squab covered in buttoned red material, with panelled arm terminals, on turned tapering legs, brass caps and castors, one leg with restored break

Lot Essay

The seat, with Grecian cippus-arms, has palm-wrapped stump feet as featured in George Bullock's 'French sofa bed' pattern illustrated in Rudolph Ackermann's Repository of Arts, March 1816. A pattern for a related corner seat is also published in T. King, The Cabinet-Makers Sketch Book, 1835.
