An electroplated Toast/Letter Rack
Designed by Christopher Dresser, manufactured by Hukin & Heath, circa 1881
Rods joined by small spheres, fixed on bowed base with bun feet; sold with two further Toast Racks, one with simple uprights and stirrup handle on oval base, by Hukin & Heath, the other with rods joined by spheres fixed on open rectangular base
5¼in. (13cm.); 5½in. (13.5cm.) heights of two illustrated toast- racks
The first with makers' mark, stamped 2556 and P.O.D.R. mark for 9th May 1881; second with makers' mark, stamped 7577; third stamped 298 (3)
