The dial signed Sirost à Paris, circa 1800
The circular white enamel dial with black painted Roman numberals within a stiff leaf ormolu slip with cavetto molded case decorated with gilt floral patterns and painted border, with ball and ring finial

Sale room notice
A clock of virtually-identical form but with scarlet and gilt-japanned decoration is in the collections of the Brooklyn Museum of Art and dates to circa 1830.
Lot Essay
Sirost is recorded as working on the Rue Bertin-Pioré in 1806, as a pendulier between 1815-20, and on the Rue des Fontaines in 1840.
