Lot Essay

Purchased in the early 1950s by the family of the present owner from the sale of the contents of 'The Warren', near Newmarket, home of the Ranks. The Rank family is believed to have commissioned work from Robert Lutyens in the 1930s.
A candelabrum/centrepiece of similar inspiration, also incorporating facet-cut rock crystal, is represented in the catalogue of Robert Lutyens' work compiled by Paul Peterson of Lutyens Design Associates.
