A SPANISH BAROQUE WROUGHT-IRON-MOUNTED BONE-INLAID GILTWOOD AND WALNUT VARGUENO
Basically Late 16th/17th Century and embellished in the 19th Century
The rectangular door set with pierced geometric mounts and an elaborate locking mechanism, enclosing shell niche drawer with putto pendentives above a short drawer flanked by six drawers above four drawers flanked by four drawers decorated as two broken scroll pedimented doorways, each drawer front with shell pull and decorated with overall grid decoration with squares at the intersections, flanked by paired spiral-fluted columns beneath an arch, the edge of the front set with stylized pierced geometric mounts flanked by stars, each side set with a bale handle and animal head terminals, on a later base with three baluster-turned supports to each side and bracket feet with acanthus carved ogee-moulded front edge joined by similarly decorated stretcher with ripple-moulded laterals surmounted by top finials, backboards later, wrought-iron mounts formerly gilt
