Lot Essay

The Serenissima Republic was the first to create this type of glass in the 16th Century. Soon specialists from Venice were lured to glass centres in the North of Europe, where façon de Venise glass was produced and consequently became very popular. This Netherlandish glass had sometimes extravagant stems and bowls.
