Prince Willem IV (1711-1751) of Orange Nassau married Anne of Hannover, daughter of King George II of England. He became Stadholder of the United Provinces in 1747. During his very short reign (1747-1751) a large amount of Orangist ware with his effigy was produced not only in Delft but also on German stoneware, English salt-glazed earthenware and Chinese porcelain.

cf. D.F. Lunsingh Scheurleer, Oranje op Aardewerk, Lochem, 1994, p.71, ill.59 for a similar example in the Rijksmuseum Paleis het Loo, Apeldoorn.
