A Simon and Halbig bisque shoulder-headed child doll
with solid pate head turned slightly to the left, closed mouth, fixed bright blue eyes with upper and lower painted lashes and feathered brows, pierced ears, long sloping shoulders and deep grooves at armpits to sew holes, the body of pale blue cotton with composition arms, original short blonde mohair wig and home-made net frock over cotton underclothes -- 17in. (43cm.) high, impressed on front shoulder plate S.8 H. circa 1880 (ear pierce chips, arms washed and damaged on fingers, legs dirty, body darned )
