Koryo Dynasty (12th Century)
Circular, with flattened cover and shallow interior, inlaid on the cover in white and iron slip with bands of scrolling chrysanthemums: a narrow band of white florets and black leaves at the outside bordered by inlaid white-slip fretwork, repeated below on the lower exterior of the box, and a wider band of chrysanthemum arabesques centering a single flower surrounded by a border of contiguous triangles of white slip, the box also decorated inside and out with a crackled, bright celadon glaze, emerald where thick; inner rims unglazed, five spur marks on base
