The shallow circular box inlaid in white slip on the cover with a central medallion of two confronted fish and a vortex of waves, a surrounding band of scrolling foliage reverse-inlaid in iron slip and an outer collar of pointed leaves defined by white slip, and with details in white and iron slip, the sides of the lid and of the lower box also inlaid in white slip with narrow bands of key frets; the box and cover also decorated by a bright celadon glaze with high gloss and sparse craquelure in the lower interior and on the base, rims unglazed, three spur marks on base
