A Punch'ong Bottle
Choson Period (15th-16th Century)
Evenly proportioned, with ovoid lower body rising from an inset, high ring foot to a cylindrical neck and a wide, everted mouth moulded with concentric rings inside the lip; decorated with white slip in five panels separated by incised lines and drawn in underglaze iron-oxide with two large fish with spiky, scalloped fins, two lotuses and stylized, curlicue leaves; the bottle also decorated with a glossy clear glaze, greyish-green where thick above the foot, foot rim unglazed, recessed base brushed with white slip, unglazed and with incised mark
