The long, rectangular two-panelled softwood top with everted flanges and supported on a bamboo armature comprising two rectangular box frames joined by 'ping' pattern latticework centering a medallion on the front and a partial diagonal latticework trellis on the sides, the base of each box-frame joined by two leg-encircling stretchers

Lot Essay

The thirteen-character painted inscription on the underside may be translated, 'Made for the mansion of Yaohengqing in the fourth month of the first year of the Daoguang Emperor's reign,' which corresponds to 1821.
