A Rare Pair of Painted Lacquer Dishes, Pan
Han Dynasty
Each shallow dish painted in red and black with slender swirling clouds reserved on a reddish-brown ground within a broad brick-red band set below a band of lozenge pattern in the well, the narrow, flat rim and the outer edge of the rim painted in pencilled line with conjoined spirals and T-forms, the upper register of the exterior decorated with a band of long-tailed birds
