A Meissen porcelain polychrome and gilt Sea-Life chess set
After a design by Max Esser, mid 20th century
One side a coral colour, the other a grey and white, heightened in gilt, the royal pieces as sea anemones, the pawns as starfish, each piece marked with the Meissen mark of crossed swords in an underglaze blue
King -- 3¼in.(8.2cm.); pawn -- 3/4in. (2cm.) high
