This chair was made by the famous Dutch company Horrix, made at the Anna Paulowna Meubelfabriek between 1860-1870 when rustic furniture became en vogue. Specifically furniture where the frame resembles branches like the present lot and which have retained their original upholstery, demonstrates this fashion. The company had great success with this kind of furniture.

A similar chair is in the collection of the The Hague Municipal Museum.
