Lot Essay

This commode, with its distinctive burr inlay, relates to the oeuvre of the Hache dynasty in Grenoble. A commode with similar banding, burr veneer and similarly shaped apron by Pierre Hache (1705-1776) is illustrated in R. Fonvieille, La Dynastie des Hache, Grenoble, 1974, p. 11, while the general shape of the commode is similarly found on a commode attributed to Hache which was offered anonymously, Ader Tajan, Paris, 29 June 1992, lot 155.
