A NEAPOLITAN ORMOLU-MOUNTED KINGWOOD AND PARQUETRY COMMODE
Third quarter 18th Century
Crossbanded overall and banded in amaranth and satinwood, the later waved and eared giallo antico marble top above three graduated long drawers centred by a star-motif in a circular medallion, above a waved apron and flanked by keeled angles headed by a floral C-scroll mount, the sides centred by a conforming star-motif medallion, the tapering feet terminating in foliate sabots, partially remounted, the marble top with restored break
30 in. (76 cm.) wide; 33½ in. (85 cm.) high, 17½ in. (44.5 cm.)

A commode with identical shape and similar inlay but lacking the ormolu mounts is in the Museo Correale di Terranova, Sorrento (E. Baccheschi, Mobili Italiani del Meridione, Milan, 1966, opposite p. 84).
