Contemporary photograph album, oblong 8o, containing 68 cartes-de-visite portraits ca. 1870s (most with photographers identified), including two images of Twain; a head and shoulders portrait and a bust profile signed in pencil on the verso "Yours truly Sam'l Clemens Mark Twain." Also identified: Jane L. Clemens (mother), Mollie E. Clemens (sister in law), Jane Clemens (daughter), Annie Moffett (niece), Mary Ann Creel (aunt) and Robert P. Creel. Covers worn, index page loose.

Another smaller album, containing 31 cartes-de-visite photographs (mostly children), with two identified as Mollie Clemens and Annie Moffett. With 4 small cased tintypes (one lacking front cover), 2 small cased ambrotypes (one lacking front cover), 1 oval portrait in period frame, 8 photographs approx. 5" x 7" and a white silk signed by Jane Clemens.

Together with an accumulation of approximately 25 letters [1845-1852], most with attached address leaf, to Robert P. Creel concerning various personal and business matters, as well as property deeds and receipts including the Last Will and Testament of Col. William S. Patterson (1802-89), Iowa pioneer and three time mayor of Keokuk. With several additional pieces.
