This concert, from early on in The Sex Pistols' short career, happened around the time that Malcolm McLaren was struggling to get a record deal for the band. Various A & R people as well as photographers and journalists attended the Screen On The Green concert. Six weeks later, the band had been signed to E.M.I., only to have their contract terminated after three months, following the notorious Bill Grundy interview. This concert was six months before Sid Vicious joined the band and saw Glen Matlock as part of the original line-up. Johnny Rotten was apparently being so violent with the microphone on stage that he knocked out a tooth with it during this concert.
The vendor was working at a print shop in Paddington where customers hand-printed their own work. He remembers that Jamie Reid and all the band members were present. The text was hand-painted on to the screen and the resultant posters (apparently around 100 copies were made) were therefore a collaborative effort with all the Sex Pistols lending a hand.
