The circular glazed enamel dial with Arabic chapters and gilt fleur- de-lys inscribed Ferdinand Berthoud/A Paria and BY within a guilloche frame and drum case hung with floral swags and surmounted by two putti, one holding a floral wreath, all within a cloud formation with musical trophies and supported by a further putto, flanked by Cupid's weapons and two billing doves, the panelled rounded rectangular breakfront plinth with bead and reel band centred by a floral basket flanked by foliate scrolls, the sides with deep fruiting swags, on fluted toupie feet, with pendulum, the movement inscribed Ferdinand Berthoud/A Paris
