Persian manuscript on buff paper, 6ff. with 8ll. of elegant black nasta'liq each folio with pairs of small birds painted in gouache supporting each line of text, possibly slightly later, opening illuminated heading with title, final folio signed 'Ali al-Katib, some water staining, coloured margins with gold arabesques, in later gold tooled binding

A note on the flyleaf gives the name of the artist of the birds as Muhammad Mu'min. There is an inscription, dated 1031, that may be from a Mughal Library.
