Persian manuscript on fine cream paper, 228ff. with 14ll. of fine black nasta'liq arranged in two gold-outlined columns, titles in red, blue and gold, with extremely fine gold and polychrome illuminated opening bifolio, preceded by similarly illuminated shamsa folio and with eight similar headings, final bifolio with text within gold clouds with floral decoration, very good condition, in original black morocco binding with tooled medallions and spandrels, rather worn

Lot Essay

This is the collected works of a little-known author of spiritual verse. He was a wandering Sufi who founded his own order. The manuscript is divided into fourteen sections using a variety of poetic forms, including ghazals and the mathnavi form and referring to other spiritual poets such as Farid al-Din 'Attar and Jalal al-Din Rumi.
The structure of this Kulliyyat differs to that described by A. Monzavi in the Catalogue of Persian manuscripts (Tehran, 1350 (1971-2 AD), Vol. III, pp. 1849-51).
