The kufic around the mouth reads:
li-sahibihi al-ajall al-akhass al-muqbil al-muhtaram sadid al-din rafa'(?) al-islam w'al-muslimin 'aziz al-muluk w'al-salatin (for its owner, the most glorious, the most excellent, the fortunate, the revered, [he who is] straight [in the path of] religion, .... of Islam and the believers, one who is dear to kings and sultans).
karim al-'asr mushfiq al-khala'iq Jayshi (or Habashi) b. Muhammad Maman(?) bi-tarikh sha'ban sana ihda wa sittami'a(?)(the generous of the time, the friend of [all] men, Jayshi (or Habashi) son of Muhammad Maman dated in [the month of] Shaban, the year six hundred and one).
The naskh continuous band around the shoulder reads:
al-'izz w'al-iqbal w'al-dawla w'al-'inaya w'al-qana'a w'al-ziyada w'al-'afiya w'al-dawama w'al-riyada w'al-kirama w'al-baqa li-sahibihi (Glory, prosperity, wealth, sympathy, contentment, abundance, health, endurance, [enrichment through] self-denial, generosity and long life to the owner).
The kufic band at the top of the body:
b'il-yumn w , 'al-baraka , wa....... , w'al-kirama , w'al-sala , ma w'al-d , a'im w'al-daw[la] , al-kamila , w'al-sa'a , da w'al-m , w'al-shukr (With good fortune, blessing, ......, generosity, well-being, perpetuity, glory, compelte wealth, happiness and gratitude).
The naskh below that:
al-'izz w'al-i , qbal w'al-da , wala w'a , l-qana'a w'a , l-riyada w'al-sa'a , da w'al-sala , ma w'al-daw[la] , w'al-shafa'a w'al-r[aha].. (Glory, prosperity, wealth, contentment, self-denial, happiness, well-being, turn of fortune, intercession and ease).
