The remarkable Bremer Ratskeller was founded almost six centuries ago and still owned by the town of Bremer in Northern Germany. In the famous Schatzkammer (treasurey cellar) are housed a fabulous collection of rare old German wines going back to the 17th century.

The wine is drawn from the huge mother cask, in the famous Ratskeller (Town Hall cellar), which from time to time is topped up by the young Rüdesheim wine of a good vintage. The large volume of older wines is thus kept refreshed
