According to a label on the stretcher, the present lot was offered in an 18th century sale, as lot 49 and 50, described as A view of the Spaarne, Haarlem: 'Gezicht langs het Binnen-Spaarne, Haarlem' and as A farm: 'Voor een boerenwoning'.
