He started his career with Saltney Ferry and then had spells with Bretton F.C., Saltney Works F.C. and Wrexham, before being transfered to Aston Villa and later to Sheffield United for £1,100. He made a total of 205 appearances for United and scored 37 goals, the highlight being the 1915 F.A.Cup final against Chelsea. Evans also made full International appearances for Wales and England. His debut match for Wales was against Scotland in 1906 and he played a further nine times for Wales before a tip-off to the The England Football Association that, in fact, he had been born in England. In 1920 they objected to his qualification and was subsequently selected to play for England on four occassions. The following two lots were awarded to Robert Evans

In the 1915 F.A.Cup final, better known as The Khaki Final, played on 24th April 1915 at Old Trafford, Manchester, Sheffield United defeated Chelsea 3-0
