No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VA… Read more William Leslie Allan was born in Dagenham on 4th September 1937 and joined Tottenham Hotspur in December 1959 after spells with Briggs Sports and Chelsea. Allen was a surprise signing by Bill Nicholson which saw former England International Johnny Brooks move to Chelsea as part-exchange in a £20,000 deal. Allen soon became a regular in the first team and in a 1960 F.A.Cup replay scored five goals, in Spurs 13-2 defeat of Crewe. An instinctive goalscorer and hard-working member of the team Allen was an ever-present in the 1960-61 'Double' winning side scoring a total of twenty-seven League and Cup goals. He made a total of 147 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur scoring seventy-five goals and left the club in 1965 to join Queen's Park Rangers where he again won a domestic double with the 1966-67 Division 3 League Championship and the League Cup. Allen stayed with the club until 1971 and spent the last three seasons as manager, after which he managed Woodford Town and Swindon Town before taking up a similar post in Greece. He was selected to play for the England Under-23 side against Wales in February 1961 and made one appearance for The Football League in a match against the Italian League in 1962 The following fifteen lots were awarded to Les Allen
