PROPERTY FROM THE ESTATE OF DAVID SEIDNER
David Seidner was just nineteen when his first cover was published in Paris. His first one man show came two years later and at twenty-two he signed an exclusive contract with Yves Saint Laurent. While he contributed regularly to Vanity Fair, Vogue, and Harper's Bazaar, his work was also shown at the Pompidou Centre and the Whitney Museum of American Art. Many books of his work have been published. Inspired by his studies in art history and literature, Seidner evoked the work of classical painters and artists. The works offered here were influenced by the paintings of Sargent. Seidner's body of work proves him to be one of the finest and most original photographers of our time. David Seidner passed away in June 1999 of AIDS at the age of 42.
A major retrospective of Seidner's work will be held in the fall of 2000 at La Maison Européene de la Photographie in Paris.
