Lot Essay

The original, on panel, signed and date 1667 is in the J. Paul Getty Museum (see G. Broulhiet, eindert Hobbema, Paris, 1938, p. 404, no. 204). Georges Broulhiet confuses the early provenance of the Getty/Swaythling picture with the present one.
