It is a privilege to present the following remarkable collection of vintage cigars.
As with wine, the provenance of vintage cigars is of paramount importance, and what provenance could be better ?
As descendants of Winston Churchill, unquestionably the world's most famous cigar lover, the Soames family, to a certain extent, can be said to have had cigars "in the blood" ! Every box was purchased and stored since original purchase in the humidors of two of St James's most eminent merchants: J. J. Fox and Dunhill. They have been recently transferred to our own humidor here at Christie's.
The condition of the cigars is pristine; the quality of the rolling, condition of the tobacco and the complexity of the aromas emanating from the boxes (virtually all of which are long since out of production) transport one to a bygone era of cigar production.
The sale of this collection will provide connoisseurs with the unique opportunity to acquire some of the finest boxes to be offered on the open market for many years.
