Maker's mark of J.D. Schleissner Söhne, Hanau, circa 1880
In Gothic style, tapering cylindrical on three feet formed as saints slaying dragons, the body overall repoussé with roundels against a matted ground, with applied foliate scroll mid-band, the cover with gallery of scrolling foliage and similar roundels, surmounted by a finial formed as archangel Michael slaying the devil, marked under base, also stamped on cover with Austro-Hungarian control mark
