Each vase-form on spreading circular foot with gadrooned rim, the body applied at the shoulder with a band of classical masks against a matted ground, the handles formed as entwined cornucopia, with gilt interiors, marked on bases

Lot Essay

A set of six salt cellars of the same design was sold by Christie's, London, April 14, 1994, lot 370, and a set of four salt cellars was sold on April 26, 1972, lot 102. A matching soup tureen was sold by Christie's, London, February 16, 1966, lot 102, and a pair of wine coolers of the same date were sold by Sotheby's, New York, February 7, 1980, lot 811.
