TWO GEORGE III SILVER TAPERSTICKS AND TWO GEORGE I CHAMBERSTICKS*
The first London, 1762, maker's mark probably that of Ebenezer Coker (Grimwade 3538); the second maker's mark of William Cafe, London, 1765
The first on shaped square base with stylized shells, knopped baluster stem and detachable nozzle; the second on hexagonal base, with engraved coat-of-arms, baluster stem and socket, chased with floral decoration, each marked under base, the detachable nozzle unmarked; the first chamberstick, maker's mark of Anthony Nelme, London, 1715, of plain circular form with reeded handle, the base engraved with cipher monogram, marked on base, also marked under base with scratchweight 2=9=0, the second silver-gilt chamberstick with square base, loop handle and fitting for extinguisher, the base engraved with a crest within garter motto beneath a Duke's coronet, apparently unmarked
