A VICTORIAN IRISH SILVER "ARMADA"JUG
Maker's Mark JS, Dublin, 1865
Of bottle shape on stepped domed base with repousse gadroons, scale and flowerheads, the sides with cartouches, one monogrammed with QWNA and the other erased, flanked by foliage and applied repousse winged mer-figures beneathe a crown, the front with leopard head, the neck with bands of bell-flowers, guilloches and stiff leaf-tips, with scroll handle and hinged mechanism linked to the shaped cover with foliate scroll finial, gilt lined, fully marked on the rim, partial marks on the cover.
