A GILT METAL AND MOLTEN GLASS PENDANT, CHANEL
Designed as a cross, the sculpted bail suspending four bezel set green molten glass arms centering a similiarly mounted red molten glass oval, the reverse decorated with fluted segments, circa 1965, 3.75 in.
Signed Chanel in a circular plaque
This superb cross pendant made with molten glass is a duplicate of one that M. Goossens created for Mlle. Chanel in gold with more than 25 carats of her own emeralds and rubies in bezel settings. In a book about Georgian (Russian) enamels, he had seen marvelous crosses. The piece he designed for her was inspired by Georgian and Byzantine jewels in the book. Mme. La Brunie, the niece of Mlle. Chanel inherited the original pendant.
