AN IMPORTANT VERMEIL AND MOLTEN GLASS BRACELET, CHANEL
3rd Century Syrian inspired, the wide slightly graduating vermeil sculpted band with eagle and scroll motifs embellished with blue, green, red, pink and purple molten glass accents, with pin clasp, 8 in., with French hallmarks
Unsigned Chanel
The motif of falcon or eagle heads was designed as a series of brooches, necklaces and ear clips, all inspired by a bracelet from Yakhmour, Syria (2nd-3rd Century) that is part of the De Clerq collection in Paris. The bracelet had motifs similar to the ancient Scythian culture, giving rise to speculation of the Gothic infiltration into Syria.
