A PAIR OF NORTH ITALIAN BAROQUE GILTWOOD MIRRORS
Possibly Venice, Mid-18th Century
Each with a cartouche-shaped reverse-engraved mirror plate, one with a figure of Diana, the other of Neptune, within beveled glass borders and contained within a cartouche-shaped molded frame surmounted by a female mask and sunburst, flanked by mermaid figures and with pendant scrolling foliage at the sides, the aprons applied with a later pressed gilt-metal ram's mask, probably originally with candlearms
