Lot Essay

In the early 1950s Sheppard studied at St Martin's school of Art, principally under Caro and Martin. In 1960 he started working as an assistant to Moore. He was represtented in the I.C.A. exhibition '26 Young Scupltors' in 1961, and in 1962 the Bear Lane Gallery in Oxford held an exhibition of his work. He is represented in the Arts Council Collection. (Maurice de Sausmarez, loc. cit).
