A ROMAN HOLLOW BONE FURNITURE ORNAMENT WITH ALEXANDER ENTHRONED

The front is decorated in high relief with a figure of Alexander seated, his head turned to the left, wearing an himation which is folded round his waist to reveal his naked torso, he holds a spear in his right hand, a sheathed sword in his left; the reverse decorated with a pedimented temple façade with twin columns, in front of which is a pileos or conical headdress surmounted by an eight-rayed star (characteristic of the Dioskouroi) resting on an altar
