AN EGYPTIAN FINELY MODELLED BRONZE FIGURE OF SEKHMET
SAITE PERIOD, CIRCA 6TH CENTURY B.C.
The standing lion-headed goddess wearing tripartite wig surmounted by characteristic sun disc and uraeus; she wears a finely detailed 'herring-bone' striped garment fitting under her breasts attached by shoulder straps, the whole encompassed by an imbricated feather and winged over-garment, she is adorned by a beaded necklace and striped arm and wrist-bands, the base inscribed with the name of the dedicant and invocation: "Saying (by) Sekhmet-nefer, beloved of Ptah and Nefertem: Life, all health and all joy to Wedja-Hor-resnet, son of Horwedja, born of the Lady Tadiwesir", mounted
