A PAIR OF GEORGE III SOLID MAHOGANY OPEN ARMCHAIRS
Each with a channelled frame, the oval padded back and bowfronted seat covered in blue and ivory-striped floral watered silk, the back centred by a patera and foliage cresting, the outcurved arms on downswept serpentine supports, the framed back on stiff-leaf supports above a fluted seat-rail centered by a patera, on turned tapering fluted legs headed by patera panels and pinched turned feet, later blocks, restorations, one front seat-rail partially replaced, one stamped 'B.E.' Lot Essay
An advertisment by Hotspur Ltd. in Apollo for June 1947 illustrates an identical chair to the present lot. It is likely that it is one of the pair in the present lot.
