A LARGE KASSITE-PERIOD BABYLONIAN ROCK CRYSTAL CYLINDER SEAL
CIRCA 1400-1100 B.C.
Showing two standing male figures facing to the left, the first bearded, wearing headdress and flounced robe, one arm bent in front while the other holds a scimitar by his side. The second bearded figure behind wearing a long fringed robe which is open above the knee, one hand at the waist the other by his side. Before them, a diminutive suppliant figure with one hand in front of his lips, kneeling on a groundline; a rhomb below. Two Kassite crosses above the scene. A five-line cuneiform inscription in Sumerian and Babylonian reads: "Saving is the sphere of Shamash, rescuing is the sphere of Marduk. How good is the mouth and tongue. Who can rival you, Nin-E'anna?", small edge chips
