AN OLD BABYLONIAN HAEMATITE CYLINDER SEAL
CIRCA 1900-1700 B.C.
With a presentation scene showing a seated bearded god wearing a headdress with brim and long fringed robe. He is seated on a padded stool which rests on a low dais, and holds a cup up before him. Behind him stands a figure wearing a long robe and horned headdress. In front approach three figures, a male worshipper in long fringed robe with hands clasped at the waist; behind him a Lamma goddess in flounced robe and horned headdress, both hands raised in supplication; and a smaller kilted male figure with brimmed headdress and holding a mace. A crescent moon above, a diminutive squatting monkey, a lion-headed standard and eight dots in the field
